Information used by the app
The current version of My Cambourne does not require an account and does not include advertising or analytics software. It does not collect precise location data.
- Saved favourites and your community-alert preference are stored locally on your device.
- Notification permission is requested only if you choose to enable community alerts.
- Calendar permission is requested only when you choose to add an event to your calendar.
- Phone, email and website buttons open the relevant app or website on your device.
The current app does not register a remote push-notification token or send your saved favourites to Bowdens.
Business listing applications
A business representative can choose to apply for a listing through the app. The form asks for a business name, category, description, contact name and email address. A phone number, website or social link and logo URL are optional.
Bowdens uses this information to review the application, contact the applicant where necessary and publish approved business information in My Cambourne. Private contact names, email addresses and telephone numbers are not displayed publicly unless the applicant has deliberately included them within information intended for publication.
Applications are processed because the applicant has asked us to consider their listing and because Bowdens has a legitimate interest in operating and moderating the local directory. Authorised Bowdens administrators may approve, reject, correct or delete a submission. Application data is encrypted in transit and stored with our database provider in its London, United Kingdom region.
Pending or rejected applications are kept only while they are needed for review and administration, normally no longer than 12 months. Approved business information may remain while the listing is active. Private contact details are removed when no longer needed, normally within 12 months after a listing is removed, unless a longer period is required by law. Applicants can request correction or deletion by emailing daniel@bowdensproperties.co.uk.
Website and technical information
When you visit the My Cambourne website, hosting and security providers may process limited technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, requested page, and the date and time of the request. This is used to deliver the service, maintain security, diagnose faults and prevent misuse.
Contacting Bowdens
If you contact Bowdens by telephone, email or through a linked website, we will use the information you provide to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, provide the service you requested. Our lawful bases are taking steps at your request, performing a contract, complying with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in operating and improving our community and property services.
Sharing and international processing
We may use trusted service providers for app distribution, website hosting, email and technical support. They may process information only as needed to provide those services. Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect legal rights. We do not sell personal information.
How long information is kept
Device-only favourites and preferences remain until you remove them, clear the app data or uninstall the app. Technical security logs are kept only for the period needed by the relevant provider. Enquiry records are retained only for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry, provide a service and meet legal or regulatory requirements.
Children
My Cambourne provides general community information. It does not offer in-app accounts or knowingly collect personal information directly from children. A parent or guardian should supervise a child who chooses to contact a listed organisation outside the app. Business listing applications should be submitted by an adult representative of the business.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you the right to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or to object to processing. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Contact us using the details above to exercise a right.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the app, website or legal requirements change. The latest version will always be published on this page with its effective date.
